Balancing Social and Academic Life
As a university student, organisation is everything. Knowing when your next class is, knowing where to go, and when things are due is the typical things that university students have to keep track of. Alongside that, there is another aspect of university students have to balance, their social life. Most university students do not have all their friends in one place, some doing other degrees, and some even going to other universities. It’s sometimes hard to keep track of all of those things at once, and I personally have experienced the struggles of trying to find my friends through messaging services. The act of messaging a group chat every time a lecture finishes “where are you guys? Is anyone free?” is inefficient, tedious, and can sometimes be annoying to people that have still have a class.
Our idea was a timetable app that let you and your friends see each other’s timetables. This app would have allowed your friends to know how long you will be available for, and where you will be located during that time when you want them to know. This app will make it a lot easier for students to make plans for events like group meetings, or even make plans for something social like catching up with friends from other universities over lunch. This app would have allowed people to have more time to spend doing what they actually want, and not trying to organise when everyone is free by asking them one by one when they can make it.

The design system was created from scratch, and reflected a fresh and modern user interface.

Collaborating using Figma
We chose to create our prototype using Figma, as it allowed seamless collaboration in real-time, and was web-based - allowing us to work from anywhere without the need to install software on university computers. Implementing the use of the Components and  Team Library features, we were able to easily push out design revisions and updates with a single-click, updating existing assets across canvases without distortion. Figma's collaboration tools also made it easy for us to track issues, suggest changes, and add features all in the same canvas.
